I packed up the family and we headed for Glens Falls, NY from Appleton, WI on Thursday, December 23rd. It was -5 degrees F and clear when we left Appleton. We stopped overnight in Elyria, OH and stayed at the Holiday Inn. We had dinner in the food court at the mall and Scott bought himself a CD to listen to. We hit the road in the morning, fighting through between 2 and 5 feet of snow which fell on the I-90 corridor between Cleveland, OH and Rochester, NY overnight.Cars were going off the road all around us, but miraculously we made it to Glens Falls only an hour behind schedule!
After dinner we went to church service. We met several old friends there. Christmas morning we opened gifts at mom and dad's. Christmas Day night we went to an Adirondack Icehawks hockey game (they lost).
Sunday we had a get-together at Rainier's in South Glens Falls, where lots of family and friends were with us.
Monday Grandpa took me and the boys up th Antler Lake to visit my Uncle Vic and his wife Nancy at their new house he built there. Then we went up to Indian Lake to check on the cottage I used to go to back in the '60s and '70s. Then we stopped at Uncle Stan's on Chamberlain Road. Scott and I stayed overnight, while Grandpa and Eric went back to Glens Falls. I did some rabbit hunting Tuesday the 28th there, and Scott was sick. We went back to my parents' house that evening.
Wednesday we hit Talk o' the Town restaurant for pizza. Thursday we went to my cousin Scott's house in Clifton Park for dinner. Friday we went to my brother Matt's house for the New Year's celebration. Saturday morning we left for Wisconsin, taking a scenic ride over the north side of the Great Sacandaga Reservoir before picking up I-90 at Fonda. Again we stayed at the same Holiday Inn, then finished out the trip with dinner at the Brazier/DQ in Slinger, WI on the last leg of the ride.
