The year started out with Green Bay hosting the Carolina Panthers at the NFC Championship game on January 12th. I went to that with Kurt Nowak. Excellent seats, great game, subzero temperatures - the works. I have some pictures; I'll set them up when I get a chance.
Of course, the Pack won that game, setting up a Superbowl Party at my house. Things got really interesting when WLUK Fox 11 Television showed up at the house to do a shoot. My compliments to the editing staff at WLUK for handily chopping out all my slurred words for the aired segment. They really should have showed up before halftime if they wanted to catch me sober!
I won a trip for two to Las Vegas on a board I was on in the fall of 1996, and the trip was from March 17th through the 21st. We stayed at the Stardust with over 30 other people from the area. Aside from having a bad cold, it was a great time. Holly and I saw Louie Anderson live at the MGM Grand. We took a tour of the Hoover Dam and the Valley of Fire on Thursday the 20th.
In July I converted the plant electrical service over to a 34.5 kV/4.16kV substation on the southwest corner of the property. Kevin Maas, Dale Barth and Doug Young were there with me as we made the swingover.
Late in July I tore out my junk concrete driveway and put in a new one. All sorts of fun there. Good thing they made a lot of beer or I might not have been able to get as much help!
That fall my friend Steve Casey celebrated a milestone of a birthday, so naturally we had to go help him celebrate.
That Christmas I decided to buy the family a bed scanner, which turned out to be a considerable expenditure of time scanning in various and sundry pictures. I'm still playing around with the thing!
